Matt RiversEL PASO- It's an honor given to only 32 college seniors each year. The Rhodes Scholarship affords each winner the chance to study at Oxford University in England. It's an award won by the likes of Bill Clinton and Bill Bradley, and now you can add one El Pasoan to that list.
No letter, no e-mail, no phone call. Baltazar Zavala, Zar to his friends, found out he was a Rhodes Scholar through a text.
"It said, 'Congratulations, you're a Rhodes Scholar. It was on the field at the end of my game, I mean I couldn't have written it any other way," Zar told us.
Zavala had just played his last game as a senior wide receiver at Harvard. They had just beaten arch rival Yale, when he got the news he says changed his life.
