Decorated Army Veteran John Nagl Named Headmaster of Haverford School

The Haverford School, a private prep school on the Main Line in Philadelphia, has named John A. Nagl as the new headmaster.

A West Point graduate and Rhodes Scholar, Nagl served in the U.S. Army for 20 years.  Nagl will be the school's ninth headmaster. He starts July 1, 2013.

Nagl currently teaches at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. He previously served as a tank battalion commander in the Persian Gulf and did tours during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom for which he earned two Bronze Stars for meritorious service. After his time on the battlefield, he taught international relations and national security studies at West Point and Georgetown University. According the Washington Post, he was also an assistant to then-Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul D. Wolfowitz. Nagl holds a PhD in international relations from Oxford University.
