South Dakota Rhodes Scholar To Help Refugees

A South Dakota woman is thankful for the academic honor she achieved this past week.

Rachel Mullin, a 2010 graduate of O'Gorman High School and a 2014 graduate of the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota, is one of just 32 Americans named a Rhodes Scholar who will attend prestigious Oxford University in England. Mullin hopes to use her scholarship as a vehicle to help refugees around the world.

Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate home and family. But Mullin's mind is never far from the people she's met far from home.

"I have a family and a warm house and food available, and knowing that others don't. There's a reason to work for their safety and security," Mullin said.
