Two residents of the Chicago area and a University of Chicago graduate are among the 32 Americans chosen this year as Rhodes scholars, the foundation behind the program announced over the weekend.

Winners of the prestigious Rhodes scholarships receive tuition and a living stipend to study for two or three years at Oxford University in England.

They include Daniel Shih, 23, who graduated from Naperville North High School in 2005; Russell Perkins, 24, a 2004 grad of Evanston Township High School; and Stephanie Bell, 23, who majored in anthropology and gender studies at the U. of C.
