Ralph H. Smith II Joins Jones Walker

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Jones Walker continues to expand in Alabama, announcing today that Ralph H. Smith II, President of The Ralph Smith Group (www.ralphsmithgroup.com), a global consulting company for business and higher education, has been named Special Counsel in the firm's Birmingham, Ala. office. "It is a pleasure to associate with a law firm of the quality and geographic scope of Jones Walker," said Smith, "and I look forward to being a part of the firm’s continued growth."

Mr. Smith spent 25 years in private law practice in Washington, D.C. and Birmingham before serving as General Counsel of the University of Alabama System and a member of the University System Chancellor's Senior Policy Staff.  A former Rhodes Scholar, Mr. Smith received his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University, summa cum laude, and his juris doctor degree from the Yale Law School. He attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, where he received an M.A.
