Vinay Nayak, a senior at Yale University, has been named one of the 32 U.S. Rhodes Scholars for the October 2014 class entering the U.K.'s prestigious Oxford University.

A political science major from Oak Brook, Illinois, Nayak currently captains Yale's mock trial team and also served on the campaign staff of President Barack Obama's 2012 reelection campaign, a position in which he managed national digital programs and social media accounts.

The 21-year-old also interned at the White House last summer assisting with a number of initiatives in support of citizen engagement.

Before arriving at Yale, Nayak graduated as co-valedictorian at Hinsdale High School in Illinois and won the National Forensics Oratory competition.
