UTC Student Named Rhodes Scholar

A University of Tennessee Chattanooga student is now part of an extremely prestigious group of 3,356 Americans, including former president Bill Clinton and Susan Rice.  The Rhodes Scholarship is known as the oldest and most celebrated international fellowship awards in the world. 

Robert Fisher, a senior at UTC is one of the 32 young Americans selected to be a Rhodes Scholar this year.

Applicants are chosen on criteria set down in the Will of Cecil Rhodes, back in 1902. Among many things the criteria includes academic excellence, ambition, great personal energy, and a commitment to make a difference in the wold.

Fisher is a two term president of the Student Government Association, has held a 4.0 GPA throughout his studies at UTC, and is the co-chair of Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke's Chattanooga Forward Initiative for the Downtown Revitalization Task force.
