Lissa Muscatine (California & Wadham '77) is a Senior Adviser and Director of Speechwriting at the Department of State. A veteran of journalism, politics, and government, she served in the Clinton Administration as a Presidential Speechwriter and later as Communications Director to the First Lady. She was co-collaborator on Living History, then Senator Clinton’s best-selling White House memoir. Most recently, she was a senior adviser on Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Prior to entering public service, Ms. Muscatine was a reporter and editor at The Washington Post, the Washington Star, and the Delta Democrat Times. She has written commentary pieces for The Washington Post ,The New York Times and various magazines.

She received her B.A. in history from Harvard University.
