Mrs. Hunter's Happy Death

John Fanestil
NH & Magdalen, '83

Doubleday, a division of Random House, has released John Fanestil's new book, MRS. HUNTER'S HAPPY DEATH. In this book -- subtitled "Lessons on Living from People Preparing to Die" -- Fanestil tells the stories of people who enjoy profound experiences of grace as they prepare to die, and succeed in communicating this grace to others. He casts these stories against the history of the "happy death," an ancient Christian way of dying.

A native of San Diego, John Fanestil is a graduate of Dartmouth College, Oxford University - where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar - and the Claremont School of Theology. He lives in La Mesa, a small city just east of San Diego, with his wife, Jennifer Leich, and their two children, Ellen and Jacob.

"In MRS. HUNTER'S HAPPY DEATH John Fanestil provides stimulus for the mind, comfort for the heart and inspiration for the soul. Who could ask for anything more?"
—Ken Blanchard, co-author of THE ONE MINUTE MANAGER® and THE SECRET

"In an era in which death often stalks a patient long before overtaking them, MRS. HUNTER'S HAPPY DEATH serves as a manual as well as an inspiration. Not since the work of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross three decades ago has there been such a seminal work in the field."
—The Reverend Robert W. Edgar, General Secretary, National Council of Churches USA
